Paramhansa Yogananda, (1893-1952) a true master of yoga and author of the spiritual classic 'Autobiography of a Yogi' dedicated his life to sharing the original yoga of India with the west. He also began a movement to create small communities where families and people in all stages of life could live together in harmony with high spiritual principals, in an environment of 'plain living and high thinking.' It is his non-sectarian teachings and those of his direct disciple Swami Kriyananda that we share and practice at Ananda Meditation Center.
Far more than a system of physical exercise, Yoga applies to all aspects of life and to people of all religious traditions.
Yoga philosophy and practice can rapidly change ones life for the better and help them overcome deep-seated negative habits, attitudes, and serious physical challenges. Whether your goal is to become calmer, more effective, healthy, happy, or kind, or to deepen your spiritual awareness and devotion to God, the teachings and techniques of Yoga offer a clear roadmap to your destination, and practical tools to make it as easy as possible.
